Matt's Idea
I have been around horses for many years. Most recently, I have watched my daughter work incredibly hard to become a more competitive equestrian, and though it means I spend far fewer moments in the saddle, I could watch her ride all day. I have been involved in both the health care and fitness industry since 1991 with the last 20 years spent working with developing athletes in multiples sports and have a degree in exercise and sports science concentrating in clinical exercise physiology. I recently realized that there were not many resources for equestrian athletes to develop sport specific conditioning specific to riding a horse, either competitively or for pleasure, so I set out to design a program that would target both sport specific and general fitness. If we could target the muscles that help keep the heels down, inside leg, posture etc., a rider could use less energy to achieve the same movements, thereby allowing for better control, a more steady seat, and less aches and pains during and after the ride. That doesn't mean we don't work on general strength and conditioning, but we use that to focus on tasks involved in the riding and care of our best buddy's!
